Table Linen

Upgrade your dining area with a stunning new table linen from House. A table can be transformed from a practical surface to a chic focal point with a simple change of linen, creating the perfect setting for both special occasions and family meals adding both character and texture.

The difference between a table cloth and a table runner is the surface area on the table. A tablecloth is designed to cover the entirety of the table. While the table runner is a narrow strip of fabric that typically runs along the middle of the table. It can either be used individually for a simplistic look, or to dress a tablecloth for additional character, a theme, or extra protection from hot plates or serving platters when entertaining.

Tablecloths come in a range of shapes and styles. Specific shapes include square and round tablecloths and ideally should match the shape of your dining table. It is recommended to select a tablecloth with an overhang of approximately 15-20cm overhang from the table edge. This allows enough coverage of the table and protects from spills without becoming too long that the tablecloth bunches on your lap while seated.

Napkins and placemats are both incredibly functional and can elevate your dining experience to an elegant occasion. Complete the look with dinner sets, cutlery, and servingware.

The most common materials for table linen is either cotton or flax linen. These are easy to wash, soft to drape over the table or to wipe your mouth with, and can add to the aesthetic you’re trying to achieve. Linen adds a raw, natural, lightweight look. While cotton adds sophistication with heavier cotton weaves used for special events.
